VIXIO GamblingCompliance has announced that the recipient of the Global Regulatory Award for Compliance Lifetime Achievement will be Paul Burns, CEO and President of the Canadian Gaming Association.

The Special Compliance Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored this year by BetConstruct, recognizes the achievements of an individual who has been involved in the gaming industry for many years and whose contribution to the advancement of compliance culture and regulatory standards in the within the industry has been outstanding. .

Paul Burns was instrumental in the creation of the Canadian Gaming Association (CGA) in 2005, initially as Vice President. Under his leadership, the association has grown to include major operators, manufacturers and suppliers to Canadian industry. Paul was named President and CEO of CGAs in 2018.

Through the CGA, Paul Burns was responsible for the development of industry-wide research and programs, including the publication of the most comprehensive study of the economic impact of gambling in Canada. . Most recently, Paul led the CGA’s advocacy efforts for the repeal of Canada’s federal ban on single-event sports betting, which was achieved during the approval of legislation in Parliament in June 2021, as well as the historic opening of Ontario’s online gaming market, launched in April 2022.
